I KNOW THE TRUTH

I Know The Truth! All previous truths – depart!
We don’t have to with others be fight seekers.
Behold: see night: soon the darkness will start.
What do you say – poets, lovers, and leaders?

We feel the wind blow, the Earth draped in dew,
Stars in the sky will soon with silence sleep,
And under the ground we all will sleep too,
We who on earth refused to let others weep.

Tsvetaeva, M. (2018) Collected Poems: New Translations. In Russian and translated to English by David Scanlon. The Foolish Poet Press, Wilmslow, Russia. I KNOW THE TRUTH. Page Number 99.
