Poet! Do not care too much for peoples love.
Glowing praise is but a momentary noise;
Which foolish judges and cold crowds speak of,
But please remain firm, calm with deep poise.

You are the king; live alone. The way is free,
Go, where your free mind shapes your words,
Developing the improved fruit beloved of herds,
Without requiring awards for your noble spree.

They are inside you. You’re her supreme court;
All know how to assess strictly their own sort.
You know not if it is good, her demanding wings?

Happy? Right let the crowd live as they learn
And mope around the alter, as your fire burns,
And in institutions sober throb her music sings.

Восторженных похвал пройдет минутный шум;

Они в самом тебе. Ты сам свой высший суд;
